To mark International Women’s Day, I wanted to celebrate women who are kicking goals and trailblazing, as well as those who are dedicated to the progress of women in their different fields.

When DiUS was approached to put on a design thinking hack day at the DiUS Sydney office for a group of Year 5 and Year 6 students from St Finbar’s Catholic Primary School and Hampden Park Public School, we jumped at the chance to help create future problem solvers.
How can we challenge our mindset and own bias? It’s not just management teams, and it’s not just the workplace – we all individually play a part; in our mindset, our beliefs and our bias. It’s reframing in the littlest ways that can set us up for success in the next generation.
Helping non-for-profit organisations innovate at hackathons, teaching primary school kids the basics of computer programming, encouraging kids in rural communities to study STEM, and sharing what they know at Meetups and community events – these are just some of the ways DiUS colleagues give back to our community.
You don’t have to run on your own at the crack of dawn when it is 8 degrees outside. You can run WITH people at work and then eat dinner after.
This September, Code Like a Girl will be running Melbourne’s first junior coding workshops. Code Like a Girl Junior will be held during the Victorian September school holidays, exclusive to young girls in grades 1-12.
