Giving back at DiUS: From early-career cancer research to food rescue and relief services

Our people are passionate about giving back to the communities in which they live and work. So, last year we launched our giving back program as a way to provide support, raise awareness and donate funds to those who need it most.

We kicked off the year with our first charity partner, Cure Cancer, and in just three months raised over $2,500 for early-career cancer research. We also hosted a BarbeCURE, held a virtual games night and ran a charity raffle, and our people in Sydney packed Buddy Boxes for children undergoing cancer treatment.

We then kicked off our second partnership for the year with OzHarvest. At the start of the quarter we set ourselves a Big Hairy Audacious Goal (or BHAG for short) to raise $5,000 through a variety of activities which included hosting a morning tea, cooking for a cause, donating non-perishable food items and raising money for the ‘tree of goodness’.

While we didn’t quite reach our BHAG, we did still raise over $3,700 for food rescue and relief services, donated more than 16 boxes of non-perishable food items and cooked meals to help feed people in our local communities.

Our people really enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect through our giving back program. So, we’ve asked them to again nominate and vote on the charities that matter most to them and we look forward to sharing who we’ll be supporting in 2023 very soon—so stay tuned! Until then, here are some of our favorite moments from our giving back program in 2022.
